The COVID-19 pandemic is irrevocably changing the world, especially when considering epidemiologists' warning of other waves of infectious diseases on a global scale. Neither the field of communication nor the Church are immune to confinement, altered life habits and cultural changes. Everything from pastoral accompaniment and worship to training and education have moved to the internet, while social media is playing an even more important role than before. The transmission of movies and television via streaming also acquires a greater importance. However, some fundamental questions remain to be resolved: How to opt for the poor whose marginalization has increased exponentially as the economic decline caused by the pandemic? How to protect our Common Home in the sense that there may be some relationship between environmental degradation and outbreaks of new diseases? How to combat the disinformation infodemic that has increased during these dark times? We reflect on some of these challenges in this issue, with special attention to those who, in their communities and media, trying to respond to this crucial moment in the lives of people and the planet.
