From May 27 to June 2, 2021, the 19th edition of the International Human Rights Film Festival, FICDH, will take place . Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, it will be totally virtual.

As in previous editions, SIGNIS Argentina will be present with a jury, this year made up of Elisa Vidal, Ana Mansilla Quevedo and Miguel Monforte.

The FICDH is organized by the Instituto Multmedia DerHumALC (Human Rights in Latin America and the Caribbean), a non-profit institution established in the late 1990s in Argentina, with the intention of strengthening the treatment and study of issues related to human rights. Human Rights in civil society. The International Festival of Human Rights is the bastion project of this institution.

Under the slogan "Roots in motion", the audiovisual event this year aims to give visibility to the narratives of people who migrate for economic and cultural reasons, discrimination or persecution, as well as those displaced or refugees due to armed conflicts or environmental issues. and of those who inherit a socio-territorial membership.

"From the FICDH we have the commitment, through the cinema, to decolonize the gaze, giving prominence to the roots in motion in their link with identities, territory and active memory," affirm the organizers.

"The cinema, in this sense, has the possibility of representing and disseminating transformative stories that allow us to reflect on the causes and possible solutions to this emergency from the collective and transversal action of citizens", those who carry out this renowned festival.

The SIGNIS jury

There are several sections that make up the FICDH. The SIGNIS jury will award its recognition to works that participate in the Latin American Documentary Competition section.

María Elisa Vidal is a member of the Board of Directors of SIGNIS Argentina, Professor of Higher, Middle and Special Education in Letters. He collaborated in various educational and pedagogical publications. He has represented SIGNIS at local and international festivals.

Ana Quevedo Mansilla is a member of SIGNIS Argentina. Community filmmaker. Member of the Childhood Commission of SIGNIS Argentina. Member of the Buenos Aires Audiovisual Forum.

Miguel Monforte is vice president of SIGNIS Argentina. Filmmaker, teacher and audiovisual researcher. His productions have received national and international recognition.
