Fetisov Journalism Awards 2021 receives applications
Until next August 1, registrations are open to apply for the FETISOV 2021 Journalism Awards. The contest seeks to recognize journalists for their courage and for their contribution to the promotion of universal human values.
Registrations are open to professional journalists, that is, representatives of the media, professional journalism organizations (unions / associations / societies) and independent journalists. A maximum of 3 (three) journalists from a journalism organization or media platform can be nominated to participate in the contest. Self nominations are allowed.
The contest has four categories: contribution to peace, contribution to civil rights, investigative journalism and environmental journalism.
According to the bases for the application, the contest will receive works published in print or digital media between June 1, 2020 and May 31, 2021. If the work is not in English, it must be accompanied by a translation into that language.
The final selection will be defined before November 1, 2021 and will be published on the contest website.
The award is endowed with a financial fund of CHF 520,000 that will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners in each category, CHF100,000 (US $ 114,241), for the first place winner; CHF20,000 (US $ 22,248), for second place and CHF10,000 (US $ 11,124) for third place
The evaluation criteria of the participating publications that will be taken into account are:
Accuracy: ensuring that the information is fact-based and reliable;
Independence: avoid political and corporate biases and undue influence;
Impartiality and equity;
Humanity: how the principles of non-discrimination and respect for victims, minorities and vulnerable groups.
Transparency: how the reporting process was made public and how athletes were held accountable
Promotion of ethical principles
Positive impact of a publication on the political, economic or social situation in a particular area, country or globally.
