The Educommunication paradigm facing the challenges of Latin America and the Caribbean is the subject of the third online discussion organized on the way to the Sixth Latin American and Caribbean Communication Congress (VI COMLAC).

The meeting, which will take place on March 18, 2021 , will have Ismar de Oliveira (Brazil), José Manuel Pérez Tornero (Spain) and María Teresa Quiroz (Peru) as speakers. Meanwhile, the moderation will be carried out by the educommunicators Carlos Ferraro (Argentina), president of SIGNIS ALC -Asociación Católica Latinoamericana y Caribeña de Comunicación- and president of the Organizing Committee of VI COMLAC, and Jaime Carril (Chile), president of the Academic Committee.

The talks on the way to VI COMLAC -which will continue to be organized prior to the Congress, in 2022, - aim to debate proposals and motivate reflection on the main theme of the event: " Communication, Interculturality and Spirituality for Social Transformation " .

Ismar de Oliveira : Doctor in Communication Sciences. Senior Professor of Communication at the School of Communication and Art of the University of São Paulo, in the Bachelor of Communication. Researcher on the interface of Education and Communication and the challenge of forming democratic, open and leading social partners, giving quality to communication processes. He is currently the leader of a group of researchers who shape a recognized educommunication research movement in Latin America. Author of several books, among which are: Information or Communication Society? (nineteen ninety six); From the Holy Office to Liberation (1988); The Youth and Communication (1992) and For a Democratic Policy of Communication (1993).

José Manuel Pérez Tornero : Doctor in Communication from the UAB. Journalist and Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Director of the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy and Quality Journalism Chair of the Chair on News Innovation (RTVE-UAB). He is the director of several cultural and educational television programs. Consultant for UNESCO, and the European Union in audiovisual public services and media and digital literacy. He directs the research group Cabinet of Communication and Education (UAB); the Observatory for news innovation (RTVE-UAB), OI2; and EduMediaLab, a laboratory dedicated to research on innovation in journalism, communication and education.

María Teresa Quiroz : Doctor in Sociology. Professor at the Faculty of Communication and researcher on communication, education and technology issues at the Scientific Research Institute of the University of Lima. Director of the Institute for Scientific Research. Vice President of the IRTP, National Institute of Radio and Television of Peru.

The Latin American and Caribbean Communication Congress (COMLAC) is an initiative of SIGNIS ALC , the Latin American and Caribbean Catholic Association of Communication. Organized since 2001, its purpose is to be a space for professional updating, reflection, exchange and deepening of issues related to the challenges of communication in today's society.
