Latin America.- SIGNIS ALC put into circulation the recent edition of the digital magazine Punto de Encuentro, at the end of the year, which addresses the topic Communication for the new normality . The special time that humanity lives due to the presence and effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic deserves, in this edition, an approach from the implications that this emergency has on communication processes and the challenges it poses to live and communicate in the new normal.

From different perspectives of Catholic communicators in Latin America, Brazil, Mexico, El Salvador and Peru, an analysis of the changes that the time of pandemic has implied in journalistic work and communication is presented and, above all, it tries to offer proposals for a communication that feeds hope, in times of uncertainty generated by the health emergency.

Faced with the present reality, Pope Francis “challenges us to build a new future, a new viable reality for all. You will have to be creative to think and recreate a new economy, make Laudato Si a reality and walk with the inspiration of Fratelli Tutti. Communication, then, must become a practice and a paradigm that contribute to making it a reality ”, reads a part of the editorial note that opens the year-end edition of the digital magazine Punto de Encuentro .

In this December 2020 issue you can find the following articles:

  • Communication for the "New Normal" (Carlos Ayala Ramírez)
  • The pandemic and the infodemic: How to combat the disinformation virus? (Andréia Gripp)
  • Communication in the construction of the new human coexistence (José Antonio Ulloa Cueva)
  • In this river of streets and bridges: The role of the media in the informative coverage of the pandemic (Felipe De J. Monroy)
  • A communication and evangelization in the pandemic (Joana T. Puntel, Fsp)

Additionally, it includes an overview of the activities carried out by associations of Catholic communicators in Latin America, in the second semester of this 2020, in addition to the path that was opened towards the 6th COMLAC, which will take place in Panama City.
