With the realization of a series of virtual meetings with the members of the international team of trainers, which took place between the 8th and 12th of the last week, the details for the start of the training program in radio production promoted by the Association were finalized. Latin American and Caribbean Catholic Communication, SIGNIS ALC. The program will have the participation of approximately 100 young communicators from SIGNIS national associates in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico.

During the preparatory meetings, the specialists who will facilitate the eight modules that comprise the training program "We turn on the spark of the Word" delved into the objectives of the course and the relevant topics: educommunication, community, the Political Communicative Project (PPC) of the online radio that will be created and put on the air, which will be the laboratory for the production and dissemination of radio programs created by young radio players as part of their training process.

Likewise, the trainers learned details about the contents of each of the eight modules, the general structure, the facilitation guide and the primers that will be prepared for each module, as well as the evaluation activities were defined. Finally, the facilitators came to know the characteristics and functionalities of the virtual training platform (moodle), through which the training process in production will be carried out, which will officially start on Wednesday, April 14 , at 08h00 Mexico / 09h00 Colombia, Cuba, Panama, Peru and Ecuador / 10h00 Dominican Republic and Venezuela / 11h00 Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, through the platform with virtual zoom conferences.

The training program

The radio training course for young communicators of SIGNIS ALC, "We turn on the spark of the word" , aspires to be a space to deepen the debate on communication as a human right, as well as a process of construction of content and radio programs that are they will share via online radio that will be created and broadcast as part of the training program.

The program seeks to combine political training, critical analysis of the Latin American reality, with mastery of tools that allow the amplification of educommunicative productions. This training proposal is created in response to the need for training and the construction of joint knowledge, to face -from the communicative exercise- changes in the context, the various readings of the environments and scenarios, as well as to imagine from this analysis and interpretation, the necessary and possible paths of communicative-educational action for those who participate, to contribute to social transformation.

Thus, the course is not only proposed as an opportunity to update knowledge, but also as a space to promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge, prioritizing the exercise of mediated communication with a focus on human rights and the right to communication. The training proposal is also oriented with the objective of creating and airing a community and citizen radio online, which seeks to provoke processes of transformation of social reality for the construction of just and egalitarian societies.

Training modules and equipment

The training program is designed in 8 modules that will be developed in eight months (one module per month), with a work plan that includes asynchronous activities for three weeks and a synchronous meeting that will take place during the third week of each month, in the one that the facilitators will meet in a virtual meeting to deepen the theoretical contents and analysis of reality that have been programmed for the participants to develop individually or in groups.

Module 1 of the training program will address the PPC and the popular option of communication and will be facilitated by Javier Barrios (Venezuela) and Sandra Luz Cruz (Mexico); Module 2 will focus on working on radio formats and genres and programming, with the facilitation of Tito Ballesteros (Colombia) and Norma Ramírez (El Salvador); Module 3 will focus on the appropriation of technology for radio production, with the tutorial accompaniment of Alex Llumiquinga (Ecuador) and Juan Pablo Montenegro (Guatemala); in module 4 the right to communication will be analyzed, with the facilitation of Eduardo Guerrero (Ecuador) and Claudia Villamayor (Argentina); Module 5 will focus on the development of the theme Democracy, power and citizen participation, with the facilitation of Hugo Ramírez (Peru) and Lilliana León (Costa Rica); Module 6 will address the topic of human rights and the regional situation, with the accompaniment of María Cianci (Venezuela) and Iolani Pérez (Honduras); In module 7, the topic educommunicative strategies in radio production will be developed, with the facilitation of Carlos Ferraro (Argentina) and Dione Patiño (Colombia) and, finally, module 8 will focus on integral ecology and culture of peace, with the accompaniment by Alessandro Gomes (Brazil) and MIguel Ángel Gullón (Dominican Republic).
