The Message of Leo XIV confirms and strengthens the path taken by SIGNIS ALC

Pope Leo XIV's Message for the 60th World Day of Social Communications, focused on the call to "preserve human voices and faces" in the face of the risks of Artificial Intelligence , engages in a direct and profound dialogue with the institutional mandate of SIGNIS Latin America and the Caribbean and with the communication project of Radio Lío.

When the Pope states that “the challenge is not technological, but anthropological,” he is highlighting a conviction that SIGNIS ALC has held for years: communication is not neutral or merely instrumental, but a human, ethical, and political practice , inseparable from the dignity of individuals and peoples. Preserving the human face and voice means, in our region, recognizing and amplifying historically invisible voices: Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendant communities, farmers, migrants, youth, women, children, and those excluded from large cities.

The Pope warns against the risk of simulating relationships and delegating thought to artificial systems. This concern aligns with SIGNIS ALC and Radio Lío's commitment to citizen-led and community-based communication , grounded in genuine relationships, participation, dialogue, and the collective construction of meaning.
